Your privacy is important to us. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of your information.

 

This statement sets out how we will deal with any personal information we collect from you or that you provide to us. We will collect and deal with your personal information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.  For the purpose of the Act, Kensington Baptist Church is the data controller of personal data we hold and can be contacted by email at officeadmin@kenbaptist.org

Data we store and how we use it

 

Church Members and those in contact with the Church

 

Your name, contact details and other information you provide to us may be stored electronically or  in paper form.

To enable us to provide pastoral support to you and your family, the Church may record information which may be regarded as sensitive. This information will be stored securely, either electronically with password protection, or in locked cabinets. This information will not be disclosed to anyone else without your consent, except as required by Law.

 

Church Membership Database

 

Your name and contact details will be entered into our Church membership database which is stored electronically and accessible only by authorised users.  Your details will be removed from our membership database if you leave the Church. Unless you request otherwise your contact details will be available to other Church members via a passworded web portal. You can ask for all or any of your details to be removed (or amended) at any time.

Employees

 

We will collect the following personal information – your name, telephone number, address, email address and bank account details and characteristics – your gender, country of birth, religion etc.  The personal data you provide in your application will only be held and processed for the purpose of selection processes and in connection with any subsequent employment. This data will only be retained for as long as is permitted by UK legislation and then destroyed.

 

 

Lawful basis for processing personal data

 

We are collecting this information to enable the church to keep in touch with you and provide pastoral support as appropriate. Data Protection legislation allows us to process this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest.We will not disclose your data to a third party without consent.

We will also use it to carry out legal obligations in relation to Gift Aid, social security or social protection law, for employment contracts with individuals and so that we can keep you informed about news, events, activities and services.

 

We will keep data in accordance with the guidance set out in our ‘Retention Policy’ (copies available from the church office).

 

Unless subject to an exemption under the GDPR, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • To request a copy of your personal data which Kensington Baptist Church holds about you.
  • To request that we correct any personal data if it is inaccurate or out of date
  • To request your personal data is erased where it is no longer necessary for us to retain it.
  • To withdraw your consent to the processing at any time
  • To choose how the church contacts you
  • To lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioners Office.
