40 Days of Prayer
(Earlier devotions at the bottom of this post)
Join us for prayer by following the devotional booklets and by meeting with us:
Tuesdays @ 8pm – rotating around congregations
Wednesdays – in your Homegroup
Thursdays @ 7.15pm – fast before if you wish. We will pray together and then break the fast with a simple meal.
It is very easy over time for a church like Kensington to become so busy with activity and caught up with tradition that we start to lose sight of the wonder of who Jesus Christ is and all that he has done for us. When that happens the truth of the gospel may well be taught and understood intellectually but the heart remains untouched and cold even to the joy of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord. Forty Days of Prayer allows a church to stop and seek personal and corporate renewal in the gospel.
Personal renewal in the gospel means that the reality of our sin and the wonder of God’s grace in Jesus Christ grip our hearts and minds afresh as we give time to remembering and rejoicing in all that God has done for us to his glory.
Corporate renewal in the gospel is a season in which a whole body of believers experience personal gospel renewal together. In our preaching and teaching, mid-week and small group activities, it is good to spend time rejoicing and praying in light of the gospel so that it’s grasped, not just as a set of beliefs, but as a power that changes us profoundly and continually.
