Kensington Annual Holiday 2014
Over the August bank holiday weekend, 150 children and adults from Easton, Village and BC3 gathered at Brymore Academy near Bridgwater for a weekend of fun and relaxation, either camping or staying indoors. After gathering for dinner, we enjoyed some lively team games as we got to know each other a bit better. Following some hot drinks and cakes, many retired to the common rooms for late night chats, board games, pool and table tennis.
On Saturday we began by meeting for singing and a Bible talk from Tom Martin then enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool, a football match, a visit to the working farm which was onsite and even had a bouncy castle up for the kids! A group of ramblers enjoyed a walk in the Cotswolds and others relaxed in the beautiful grounds of Brymore. The evening was rounded off with a quiz and again followed by hot drinks and delicious homemade cakes.
Sunday began with another opportunity to sing praises and hear God’s Word opened to us. An interactive prayer room was available to guide people in pray and reflection. The kids enjoyed collecting small items for a matchbox nature hunt and later on explored the wooded area on a treasure hunt. A rounders match was enjoyed by young and old and those who had signed up for tournaments got busy completing their matches. After dinner there was a Kids’ Praise session followed by a movie and some of the adults got together to sing some of their favourite hymns.
Monday was a bit damp but this did not put off many from getting back in the swimming pool for a last swim. As we packed up and headed back to Bristol, we took with us wonderful memories and now look forward to the next holiday on 28th – 31st August 2015!
