Community Response Team

By Nick Durston

Community Response Team is a group of volunteers led by members of Kensington Baptist Church who seek to share the good news of Jesus Christ with people in the local community through friendship and practical acts of service. We aim to fulfill this vision by doing any job we can, for free, to help people with needs they may have. These have mostly been visiting the elderly and gardening jobs so far, but recently, one member of our team led some mobile phone training for the elderly. In this way, we pray that people will get a small taste of the grace of God, ask questions about our faith and put their trust in Christ.

We need more helpers! Literally anyone can become a community response team ‘helper’, even those who wouldn’t identify with the church or even call themselves Christian. This job is good because it can be for any level of commitment and doesn’t involve having to do any organising. You just turn up to do the manual labour! Our small core of ‘facilitators’ do all the organising!

If you are interested in joining the team as a helper or getting help from us, please inquire through the church office.
